This year’s edition of the Castle Lite Entebbe Golf Open has received a boost of sh70m from Nile Breweries.

The amount more than doubles the previous sponsorship of the event as the club celebrates 113 years of golf in Uganda on November 6-8.

Unveiling the package in Bugolobi, Nile Breweries sponsorship manager Isaac Sekasi promised more support to the oldest club in East Africa.

“We believe this is going to be one of the biggest events in Uganda which needs support as it grows. Castle Lite is here to support it,” he said.

Club chairman Innocent Kihika hailed the sponsorship as a good celebration of the heritage of the club.

With the Castle Lite support, he said, the event which was previously a one-day event would be a four-day championship.

Besides the main event that tees off on first and the Professional category, the Entebbe Open will involve the inaugural East Africa Community Golf Shield competition.
