Mattrixx Volleyball Club, Old Kampala and Tigers VC men are all set for promotion in their respective categories of the NSSF National Volleyball League.

After the first legs of their competitions, the three clubs have one of their feet in Serie B and A with wins over Iganga Volleyball Club in straight sets, Jinja VC and Cobap 3-1 in that order.

All Mattrixx need is to win game two of the best of three series to seal their promotion to Serie B next season. Vision Volleyball Club was already promoted to Serie B after finishing top of the Serie C table.

Despite tinkering with their thin squad to convert setter Julius Magomu into an attacker, Tigers Volleyball Club dismissed COBAP 26-24, 24-26, 25-20 and 25-18 and will need another win this weekend to secure promotion to Serie A.

Nemostars men's volleyball club, Ndejje women and Vision Volleyball Camp teams have sent out strong signals for their contention to claim the NSSF Volleyball League title with straight sets over the weekend.

Men's defending champions Nemostars showed ability to claim their third title in a row with straight sets defeat of Sport-S in Game One of the playoffs that unexpectedly lasted less than one and a half hours.

"We did not want to give them (Sport-S) any breathing space and we achieved our target and put them under a panic situation. We are in good shape for the title after starting well," Nemostars coach Anthony Ndawula boasted.

"As far as I'm concerned Opeto was my player of the night unfortunately I will not continue moulding him because I'm going to quit the club (Nemostars) at the end of the season," he added.

In the men's second semi-final of Game One, Nkumba battled to a 3-2 win.

Vision Volleyball Camp coach Hannington Nsubuga could not mince words after a 25-13, 25-14 and 25-14 victory over UCU.

"Our first match result came as expected and I wish to continue to the final with straight win. I will be happy to meet whichever team that will come our way," Nsubuga warned.

The winner between VVC and UCU will take on the winner of the other semi-final between Nkumba and Ndejje. Women's defending champions Ndejje also beat Nkumba 3-0 in Game One.  The playoffs return with Game Two in all categories on Saturday.
