KAMPALA - Ponsiano Lwakataka said that he might be forced to refund the money so far raised for the purpose of buying a new rally car.

The driver (below) had planned to acquire a Subaru N12 as a replacement for a Subaru N10. But a number of people and companies that had made pledges are yet to act.

“I kindly beg those who had made pledges to bring the money. I have so far got sh5m from Sema Properties and sh2m from Kanu Connections,” Lwakataka stated.

“We still have a balance of sh80m. I may have to refund the money I have received.”

The driver had planned to import the new car ahead of the 2013 season. He was supposed to make a personal contribution to raise the figure of sh120m, the car’s cost

Meanwhile, Godfrey Lubega has acquired a new Subaru Impreza N12.

Lubega, who raised sh125m, is optimistic that he will compete favourably in the new season.

According to Moses Sseguya who is Lubaga’s Manager, the car has been shipped and will be in the country next month. He added that all taxes have paid.

“What we want is for Lubega to get a podium finish next year,” Sseguya stated.
