Outgoing Prime Minister John Patrick Amama Mbabazi handed over office to his successor Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda.

President Museveni relieved Mbabazi of his duties on September 18, appointing Rugunda as his successor. Parliament approved Rugunda late last month.

Dr. Rugunda on Tuesday last week took the Oath of allegiance and oath of Prime minister at the ceremony conducted by the Head of service John Mitala and attended by various dignitaries including Chief justices, ministers, Service Chiefs, Permanent Secretaries and close family.

Mbabazi said he will be available all the time to fill in any gaps not included in his comprehensive hand over report.

“Ndugu, I am available to support you as I have always done and in the true spirit of the NRM. I hope I will be seeing you again and again... You are inheriting an effective team in the Executive office. I wish you success in this new position. I thank the President for the opportunity to serve as Prime minister,” Mbabazi said.

The former Premier saluted the civil service for the work they render to government adding that, “it's only fair to applaud and recognize them for their support.”

He intends to document the work of the civil service to highlight the many great things they do to make government efficient.
