I accepted Jesus Christ from prison, says Bad Black

KAMPALA - Shanita Namuyimbwa has had her share of troubles in her recent life, more particularly in the last six or so months. She was given a four-year jail sentence in July over fraud. Two months later, another case involving her reckless driving came back haunting her, but luckily was settled.

The former city socialite popularly known as Bad Black just came out of jail two days ago on the ride of a fulfilled sh100m bail following an earlier request to be allowed to change her breast implants.

Now the dramatic young lady has made a few revelations, most interestingly about her life behind bars, and also about the true paternity of her child. There was a heap of speculation over who the real father of the child was when Black was still pregnant.

But before you read any further, it is interesting what prison can do to someone. Anyone. Be it a thug, a shoplifter, a robber or even a serial killer. You must have read before about former inmates confessing their renewed existence, thanks to life in jail.

And Bad Black is no exception. She has admitted what being confined from the wide world has done to her.

“Luzira [Prison] has made me a changed person. I accepted Jesus from prison,” she confessed after her release on Thursday. “I have invested money in women inmates’ groups for them to start making crafts.”

Back then in July, she vowed to fight for the rights of women.

“My life in prison was a simple one. I had food from home daily with visitors and pastors giving me more courage and hope.”

Now that’s Bad Black for you. Many remember her for ‘splashing’ [read spending] money on friends and reportedly strangers too in nightclubs and other hangout joints within Kampala.

It is reported she made plenty of friends in prison, and quickly gained popularity among the female inmates.

So, her apparent transformation in Faith and priorities should be something to commend her for.

Child’s father

The out-of-jail woman has broken the silence over her child’s father.

“People have been asking me about my daughter’s father. I want to clearly say that the Uganda Cranes star Eugene Ssepuya is the father of my girl.”

“[David] Greenhalgh was just a business partner who ended up as my boyfriend. Then when he heard that I was seeing someone else, Meddie Ssentongo became a victim.”

“I have never been in love with Ssentongo, he was just a businessman I met — nothing else.”

By press time, New Vision was unable to get a comment from Ssepuya (pictured left) as he was reportedly out of the country.

Bad Black came into the limelight after her ex-lover Greenhalgh took her to court over embezzling sh11b from a company they co-owned.

“With this case, I have learnt a few things, one of them being that I have forgiven David Greenhalgh, my former lover, who took me to court and I ended up in Luzira,” she said.

And what about her breast implants?

“I have no swag because I don’t have money; I need sh50 to sh80 million for my breast treatment in Dubai. But for now, I will keep myself busy with music. I have four songs I composed in Luzira. One is titled Ugandan Gals soon to be recorded.”
