Sheikh Kakeeto warns Ugandans working abroad on discipline

Sheikh Sulaiman Kaketo the head of the tabliq Muslim sect in Uganda has advised Ugandans in Saudi Arabia to observe the Islamic culture and be disciplined.

Sheikh Sulaiman Kaketo the head of the tabliq Muslim sect in Uganda has advised Ugandans in Saudi Arabia to observe the Islamic culture and be disciplined.

He said observing the Islamic culture and discipline would make them likable to their employers and project a good image and public relations for Uganda.

He was speaking on Tuesday to recruits who are planning to travel and work in Saudi Arabia in Namirembe, Rubaga Division in Kampala.

Ham property a local company in partnership with Smaco a Saudi Arabia company are recruiting local labourers who are set to work in Saudi Arabia.

“Treat your employers with respect; talk and treat their children well, do not be rude to them.  You can be Muslim or not but exhibit good manners,” he advised them.

The Resident City Commissioner for Rubaga Division Deborah Mbabazi said she was happy with the program.

She said they are happy that it would create employment for the youths but asked the recruiting agency to observe human rights of Ugandans working abroad.

“We ask you to treat workers well; we have in the past had cases where our people are mistreated. We hope that you will treat them well,” she added.

The Managing director of Ham Property Hassan Mugoya said they wish to recruit 500 monthly to work as drivers, maids and nurses in Saudi Arabia.

The Smaco boss Saad Albadah said he wants to employ up to 2000 Ugandans. He said for the maids and nurses, youths were preferred but
for drivers they can be up to 50 years. The recruits must be free of Hepatitis and HIV/AIDS.

“We have shifted from recruiting Asians to Africans and I want to recruit up to 2000 Ugandans. I believe Ugandans are better; social and hardworking,” he added.

Mugoya said the recruits would be well paid and cared for by the recruiting agency and would work on a 2 years contract and it is renewable.

The officials of the ministry of Labour, the District Internal Security Officer of Rubaga Capt. Laban Lutamaguzi and hundreds of youths attended.

Mbabazi warned those who will be caught for engaging in illegal and criminal acts saying they will not be helped by government. Some Ugandan youth have been facing and others have been executed in china for drug trafficking.
