Jackline Uwera Nsenga, 36, has been found guilty of murdering her late husband, Juvenal Nsenga.

JACKLINE Uwera Nsenga, 36, has been found guilty of murdering her late husband, Juvenal Nsenga.

Justice Duncan Gaswaga on Monday morning said Uwera intentionally killed her husband at their home in Bugolobi.

Court rejected Uwera’s defence that she accidentally knocked her husband when the car jerked.  Her evidence that they had a good relationship therefore she could not have killed him was also rejected.

Gaswaga said the relationship between the couple had become irreconcilable and that Uwera only waited for an opportunity to kill him.

Threats narrated to court by Lorreta Mutoni a prosecution witness twelve days before the incident was credible and reliable.

Gaswaga said Mutoni had no reason to give false evidence against Uwera but only stated what she knew.

“I am capable of doing many things which I myself is scared of doing,” Uwera told the late Nsenga.

The judge said prosecution had proved beyond reasonable doubt that Uwera intentionally killed Nsenga.

The judge cited the dying declaration which Nsenga made at Paragon hospital to his father Donat Kananura.

A dying declaration is a confession made by a deceased and it can used in court as evidence.

Before his death Nsenga told three of his brothers respectively at Paragon hospital that Uwera deliberately knocked him on January 10, 2013.

Court is yet to pronounce itself on the sentence but prosecution has already asked for a maximum sentence of death.
