After a goalless first half, Kira Young midfielder Brian Nkuubi tapped in a Patrick Kaddu cross in the 59th minute before substitute Bright Haguma doubled the lead late in the game.

Enthusiastic Express FC fans could hardly believe the result especially after Kira Young goalkeeper Ashadu Bugembe foiled their goal attempts from skipper Willy Kavuma, Noah Ssemakula, Henry Katongole, Simon Sserunkuma and Eric ‘Butcher’ Ssebuguzi.

At a post match press conference, Kira young coach Paul  Nkata warned his rivals that his side is ready to contest for the title this season.

“Our performance today has not been bad and we need to improve . This time round  my team is ready to compete for the title,’’ Nkata said

Nakata also noted that the strengthen of the midfield  helped his side win the game.

“My players followed my instructions most especially in the midfield and it’s the reason why we won the game.  I call  upon my players not  to be excited because this is the first game of the season,’’Nkata added.

Police FC came up as the biggest goals harvester beating newcomers Rwenshama 3-0 at Kavumba Recreational grounds.

URA and Bright Stars as well as BUL and Sadoline Paints drew 1-1 respectively.
