Uganda Sports Press Association has been urged to hold its road safety campaign monthly or thrice every year to help reduce accidents in the country.

City Tyres marketing manager Herbert Bashasha made the appeal at a press briefing where his company committed sh7m to this year’s road safety campaign that will be held on Friday in Entebbe.

“Statistics shows that USPA road Safety campaign has helped in the reduction of road accidents in the country and it is our appeal that USPA considers increasing this campaign to more than once a month and we shall support them,” Bashasha stated.

USPA is marking 12 years since the death of four journalists Leo Kabunga, Simon Peter Ekarot, Francis Batte and Kenneth Matovu that perished on Jinja - Kampala highway.

USPA president Mark Namanya lauded City Tyres for the continued support and asked others to emulate them.

He added that this year’s road safety theme is “Use beam lights responsibly.”

The Road safety Campaign started with a memorial mass service at Christ the King Church on Thursday for all the fallen USPA heroes.

The USPA annual Road safety campaign is sponsored by City Tyres and Standard Chartered bank.
