The local organising committee (LOC) of the Eastern Africa University Games has ruled out any tallying errors like it was in the 8th edition in Dar es Salaam last year, when both Kampala University and Ndejje University claimed the overall victory.

Uganda Christian University (UCU) director of Students’ affairs and a member of the LOC, Rev. Milton Tweheyo, told the New Vision that his committee is aware of the importance of accuracy while tallying results and there will be nothing like inaccuracy.

UCU is hosting this year’s event that is due December 17-21 at the institution main campus in Mukono.

“In Dar es Salaam the committee didn’t have enough manpower. We are going to set up a tallying centre well equipped with all resources to update results every time as events go on,” Tweheyo stated.

“We expect over a 100 universities thus a big number of participants and the best way to tame such situation is having a big competent team at the tallying centre which we are confident we have,” Tweheyo stressed.

Last year both Ndejje University and Kampala University claimed overall victory of the event before the former was declared champion after verification by the LOC.

He further added UCU is the first time a private University to host these games in the region and would like to set an example to others protecting its dignity.

Tweheyo also appealed to the corporate world to come up and support this tournament.
This will be the third time UCU hosts University games but the first two were the national University games.
