FUFA president Moses Magogo has revealed that the federation has grown its revenue from sh626m to about sh2b since he took office last August.

Magogo was addressing the press on his achievements in the last one year in office at Ivys Hotel in Kampala when he said that the revenue has been generated from government funding, corporate sponsorships and merchandising.

“In the last one there has also been a huge increase in revenue from sources such as sponsorship (about sh1.2b from sh600m in 2012/3) and Government funding (about sh740m from sh26m in 2012/3),” Magogo said.

Despite public criticisms of the federation’s decision to change the original FUFA logo and the Uganda Cranes jerseys, Magogo said that in the last two months alone the federation had made sh10m from sale of new machandise.

He said that the federation also expects more money from FIFA to fund coaching courses and further develop beach soccer, futsal, women and youth football programmes in Uganda.

Magogo praised the national U-17 football team for their heroic performances that has seen the team advance to the final stage of the on-going Africa Youth Football championship qualifiers and said that FUFA plans to start a league for the category in Kampala.

Without delving deeper into the re-emerging confusion on whether or not the FUFA new season will roll off soon, Magogo described his one year in office as success despite what he called “the worst ever football chaos” that had parallel leagues in Uganda.

Magogo has vowed to continue with “a deliberate communications strategy of taking the route of reconciliation, accommodating dissenting views and considering football development ahead of politics.”
