State Minister for Local Government Adolf Mwesige has summoned the Kabale District bosses over selective allocation of a sh2.5b project.

The mega project is running under the Agricultural Infrastructure Improvement Program -3 (CAIIP-3).

This follows a petition from a number of councillors from Kabale district local Government dated September 5 seeking the minister to quash earlier resolutions to pave way for fresh submissions of sub-counties to benefit from the project.

During the council session, councillors led by the District chairperson Patrick Besigye Keihwa agreed to omit Hamurwa Sub-county in favour of Ruhija Sub-county as a beneficiary of the CAIIP-3 Project.

Electorates of Hamurwa led by the LC3 chairperson James Kabatereine and the area MP Henry Musasizi had earlier on accused Besigye for diverting the project to Ruhijja yet it had benefited from Area Based Agricultural Modernisation Program (AAMP) project.

Contacting Kabatereine on phone for a comment, he said that the money was diverted to Ruhijja yet Hamurwa had been selected as a beneficiary to this multi-million project.

In his letter dated July 12, the Minister said at the time the sub-county was still under Ikumba Sub-county which made it fail to qualify under CAIIP-3.

However when contacted, Keihwa said that Hamurwa has never been given this program saying that there was no previous Council Minute to that effect.

In order to resolve the matter, the Minister called a meeting involving Members of Parliament from Kabale District, the Resident District Commissioner, the District Speaker, and the Chief Administrative Officer.

Mwesige has scheduled the meeting for 0ctober 25.
