Up to 20 readers of the Bukedde newspaper have won air tickets to Dubai, the most populous city and emirate in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

KAMPALA - Up to 20 readers of the Bukedde newspaper have won air tickets to Dubai, the most populous city and emirate in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The winners will enjoy a fully paid trip to the land of the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, which rises up to a dizzying 829.8 meters.
The winning entries were drawn from a pool of 820, 000 entries on a random basis.
To stand a chance to fly to Dubai, readers had to participate by cutting out coupons from the Bukedde paper and dropping them at the Vision Group offices.
Vision Group’s head of marketing Susan Nsibirwa and managing editor of vernacular newspapers Geoffrey Kulubya were the brains behind the game.
The game could return next year, with the destination being China, and Ethiopian Airlines, which was one of the contributors of the tickets, pledged its continued support.

Shortly after the winners were picked at the Vision Group head offices on Tuesday, the multi-media company’s CEO Robert Kabushenga said the participation was overwhelming.
“We have never seen this in Uganda. In fact, we shall see if we can organize this again next year, with the destination being China,” he said.
Ethiopian Airlines paid for ten tickets, which they handed over to Kabushenga after the draw which had started at around 10.30am local time (11.30 Dubai time).
"The tickets are here. You are going [to Dubai]," said Kabushenga.
All the 20 winners were picked from five separate filled-to-the-top boxes by;
- Ugandan tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia,
- businessman Godfrey Kirumira
- the Ethiopian Airlines manager in Uganda, Abebe Angesa
- the head of Herbalists and Traditional Healers Association Sylvia Namutebi aka Maama Fiina
- local musician Moses Ssali aka Bebe Cool, and
- Vision Group CEO Robert Kabushenga
Joseph Lwanga, Vision Group’s circulation manager announced the winners’ names upon selection. Some of the winners were called immediately to notify them of their luck.
He said the list of all the winners will be published in Wednesday’s Bukedde newspaper, as well as the travel plan.
