UCU ready for EA university games

Uganda Christian University Mukono (UCU) Vice Chancellor Dr John Senyonyi has cautioned Institutions that will participate in this year’s Eastern Africa University Games against the use of mercenaries.
Senyonyi sounded the warning in a press briefing held at the university that will host the games in December 17-21.
This will be the third time UCU hosts university games but the first two were the national university games.
“I want to caution those universities that may be tempted to use mercenaries to destabilise the success of these games that we are ready to weed out those mercenaries and the culprits will face harsh punishment,” Senyonyi stated.
“This is the first time a private university is hosting these games in the region and we want to set an example to others that is why by December all the facilities will be ready without any excuse,” Senyonyi added.
Senyonyi further cautioned both participants and fans against hooliganism or any other form of indiscipline that breaches the security and success of the Games.
“We are aware that we shall host over 3000 participants plus officials and fans and have partnered with Uganda Police and other agencies to ensure that security is a top priority and we shall not hesitate to put any one behind bars,” he stressed.
He further appealed to the corporate world to come up and support the games and in response they will get appropriate recognition.
He said that at the moment the niversity looking for sh100m to finish the renovation and setting up of facilities that will be used for the competitions.
Ndejje University is the defending champion with Kampala University being the runners up.
