Kayanja reputation case verdict today

Buganda Road Court in Kampala will deliver judgment today in a case in which six people are accused of tarnishing Pastor Robert Kayanja reputation.

The accused are Pastors Solomon Male of Arising for Christ Ministries, Martin Sempa of Makerere Community Church, plus Michael Kyazze and Robert Kayiira of Omega Healing Centre.

Also accused are businesswoman Dorothy Kyomuhendo, and local musician David Mukalazi. Kayanja heads the Rubaga Miracle Centre, and runs the global Robert Kayanja Ministries.

Prosecutors allege that in 2008 and 2009 at various places within Kampala district, the accused "conspired to cause injury to Kayanja's personality and reputation" by claiming he sodomised boys at his church.

They claim Kayanja sodomised boys at his Rubaga-based church.

In August 2009, Pastor Martin Ssempa and Solomon Male urged President Yoweri Museveni to institute a probe into the manner in which the Police handled sodomy claims against Pastor Kayanja.

The duo suggested that a presidential commission probes how Samson Mukisa, one of the alleged victims, changed his statements.

With Ssempa and Male’s assistance, Mukisa and five other youth in May swore affidavits accusing Kayanja of sodomising them. Kayanja denied the accusations and instead said he was being targeted by rivals.
