THE First lady, Janet Museveni and the Monitor Publications, have agreed to settle their grievances out of court following the paper's apology for publishing defamatory statements connecting her to land grabbing in Karamoja.

The Court entered a consent judgment after the two sides agreed to withdraw the case the first lady who is also minister for Karamoja Affairs had instituted against the Monitor.

Two conditions were set for the withdrawal of the case by the First Lady.

The conditions were that: the Monitor Publications and its Sunday Paper publishes an apology and a retraction of the story prominently on the first page.

The apology and retraction was also supposed to be put on the online edition of the Sunday Monitor.

The Monitor Publication is also to pay costs of the case. Mrs Museveni was represented by Kiwanuka and Karugire Advocates while the Monitor is represented by Nangwala, Rezida and Co. Advocates.
