The Police in Fort Portal have mounted a man-hunt for yet unidentified thugs who are suspected to have strangled a 28-year old man before taking off with property.

The Police in Fort Portal have mounted a man-hunt for yet unidentified thugs who are suspected to have strangled a 28-year old man before taking off with property.

Makune Bagi, a resident of Butangwa in Karambi Sub-county, who was an employee of Faizo Saleh, a Mukwano products distributor in the Rwenzori region, was murdered on Tuesday night when thugs broke into a lorry in which he was sleeping.

The lorry, registration number UAH 934K, which was loaded with merchandize worth Shs30m was parked at Magambo Street and was to head to Rwebisengo in Ntoroko district the next morning.

The lorry was found abandoned at Kahungabunyonyi on Wednesday morning, a few meters from where it was parked the previous night, with some of the merchandise missing and Makune’s body inside.

Mugga Bakari, the western region police spokesman, said one person has so far been arrested to aid Police with its investigations.
