THE Supreme Court will on Thursday rule whether troubled Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago should re-occupy his chambers he lost almost one year ago.

Lukwago was impeached by a majority of city councillors on November 25, last year on allegations of gross misconduct.

This followed a report by Justice Catherine Bamugemereire, who after a judicial inquiry she headed, recommended that he be impeachment for abuse of office and incompetence among others.

However, Lukwago applied for an interim order which was granted by the High Court stopping his removal from office until his application for a judicial review seeking to quash the report by Justice Bamugemereire and the impeachment.

On the basis of the tribunal report, the Minister for Kampala Frank Tumwebaze convened a meeting of city councillors and 29 of them supported the move to impeach Lukwago.
