The Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) has suspended Sport-S volleyball club director Warren Muhangi from all volleyball activities for disrespecting the federation on social media.

Muhangi’s is accused of using his social media forum for bringing the game into disrupt by abusing the executive.

“This is to formally inform you that you have been suspended from all Uganda Volleyball Federations (UVF) activities with immediate effect,” partly reads the letter by UVF president Sadik Nasiwu.

“This suspension is as a result of your abusive language and a clear disrespect to the executive arm of the federation,” the letter addressed to National Council of Sports added.

This is not the first time Muhangi is running into trouble in volleyball circles. In 2006 he was banned from playing Beach Volleyball for using foul language against a referee.

The indefinate ban which takes effect immediately virtually rules out Muhangi from all events organized by the federation and its affiliate commissions.

UVF runs the national volleyball league, national club championship and the congress among other activities.

The suspension was received with mixed feeling on volleyball home page on Tuesday. Some fans called for dialogue while others advocated for a life ban.

On his part, Muhangi remains defiant.  “This is a syndicate between a certain club and UVF,” he remarked in his post.

Muhangi’s suspension comes at a crucial time as Sport-S is due to take on defending champions Nemo Stars in a battle for play off-slot this Saturday.
