As the NSSF National Volleyball League heats-up, the defending champions risk being thrown out of the competition for ‘resentment’.

Nemostars men have once again found themselves atloggerheads with Uganda Volleyball Federation over mileage for sponsors of the competition.

Nemostars have refused to accept team jerseys provided by NSSF, which has sponsored the league to the tune of sh50m demanding to directly benefit from the deal with Uganda Volleyball Federation.

Whereas, KAVC, KCCA, Nkumba, Sport-S and Gulu among other premier clubs have taken up the jerseys and use them during their fixtures, Nemostars officials insist, the club will not take the offer.

“We are aware of the resentment from them (Nemostars) and we are not bothered because we have enough volleyball clubs. We are only tolerating them because we are waiting to provide all the clubs with second sets of the jerseys before making it compulsory for them to wear,” UVF president Sadik Nasiwu explained.

When contacted for a comment, Nemostars owner Neko Muduse-Ojala refused to comment and referred the writer to coach of the club Anthony Ndawula.

The resentment from 2012 and 2013 Ugandan volleyball champions Nemostars is the latest of numerous loggerheads they have engaged in with UVF and their parent club KAVC for years on ideological differences.

Nonetheless both Nemostars men and women honoured their fixtures over the weekend with the men beating KAVC 3-1 and Ndejje 3-0 while their women lost to Ndejje in straight sets but beat Cobap in equal measure.
