Kiboga cop's wife found dead in village pond

KIBOGA - Police in Kiboga district have launched investigations into the mysterious death of a police officer’s wife early Saturday.

The incident happened at Buziibwera village in Kiboga town council.

Ripples of shock got to the area residents when the body of Jane Francisco Amureni, 42, was found dumped at a water pond close to a community well.

She was the wife of, Michael Lwanga, a cop at Kiboga central police station.

Lwanga said his wife woke up very early at about 6am on Saturday and left him in the bed.

He said he did not bother to ask where she was going since it has been her daily routine of waking up early, especially on weekends to wash clothes.

But later, he received a phone call from the village chairperson that his wife had been discovered dead in a pond.

The LC I chairperson of Buziibwera, Vicente Nkotanyi, who is also the LCV councilor of Kiboga town council, said the woman’s body was found by residents who had gone to Kachuchuli spring community well to fetch water.

On his part, Nkotanyi said all signs revealed that Amureni could have been strangled somewhere else and her lifeless body dumped in the pond.

The corpse was retrieved by police and taken to Kiboga hospital for a postmortem investigation.

Kiboga district police commander, Francis Manana, said police was treating the matter with due attention to get to the root cause of Amureni’s death.

He said they were still awaiting an autopsy report to guide their investigations.
