Uganda Cranes coach Micho Sredojevic has described the upcoming September, August and November during which his team will compete in the 2015 AFCON qualifiers as “the three months of hell”.

Uganda Cranes are due to play five home and away matches in the Group E of the 2015 AFCON qualifiers against Ghana on September 6, Guinea five days later and Togo between September and November.

While addressing the weekly FUFA press conference at Mengo, Micho said that the period is destined to change the history of Ugandan football at the continental level.

He noted that the three months could end Uganda’s 37 years wait to return to the Africa Nations Cup. Uganda last took part in the 1978 Africa Nations Cup in Ghana where they lost to the hosts in the final 2−0.

“We are going to work hard and hope to defy logic against the West Africans. We believe this 19th qualifier will be our lucky number,” Micho said.

“But we need to work hard because ours is a dream (to qualify for Nations Cup) while for West Africans it is an obsession,” he added.

Micho is due to unveil his squad of mainly home based players for the campaign next Wednesday.

FUFA president Moses Magogo echoed the same concerns at the same function but insisted that unity among Ugandans will be key to the Cranes success.

He called on clubs from which the national team draws its players to work hard to ensure better play among the players to step up national team performance.
