After a largely quiet season, Uganda’s top female rally driver Suzan Muwonge is set to be back into the headlines.

The 2011 Uganda Sports Press Association personality of the year is eyeing a top five finish in this weekend’s Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Rally.

“I am in good shape. My Subaru N12 B is also in good condition. I would love to see a Ugandan win. I hope that other Ugandans like defending champion Jas Mangat are also set,” said Muwonge.

Muwonge has however this time had to dig deep in search for sponsorship after Kobil ceased funding of her team. It’s not been easy. I am self-sponsored this time.

My family and other individuals managed to put together resources to help me make it.” Kasozi secures machine Meanwhile, Rookie rally driver Christopher Kasozi has acquired a Subaru Impreza N6 ahead of the Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Rally Championship.

Kasozi who is navigated by Umar Kakande, will be making his second appearance in a rally event having made his maiden appearance in the Southern Motor Club-Challenge rally event that was held last month.
