Former Presidential candidate, Beti Olive Kamya, has voted Trade and Industry minister Amelia Kyambadde as the only stellar performer in Cabinet.

Kamya, the president of opposition party Uganda Federal Alliance said in an interview with Urban Television today that the Mawokota County North MP has done a great job during her tenure as a political chief of trade ministry in the country scoring a success story as a first-timer that even cadre minister would not pull off.

“I think Amelia has done a good job,” she said.

Kamya, however, was quick to point out the fact that unlike other ministers, Kyambadde’s longevity in State House as President Yoweri Museveni’s Private Principal Secretary could have easily somersaulted the lady into the epitome of success.

“Kyambadde has a very strong archive about everything given her 20-year tenure working closely with the President. She has the contacts and the clout which I think has given her an advantage over other ministers,” she said.

Kamya was contributing to a week-long debate on Urban TV where panelists are interviewed about the performance of Cabinet and its efficacy in the current financial squeeze.

Commenting about finance minister, Maria Kiwanuka, Kamya said that: “I don’t think she has much leeway to up her performance because at the end of the day it is about the resource envelope. The whole credit would go to Allen Kagina the out-going Commissioner General, Uganda Revenue Authority) maybe for improving the resource envelope and the President for his association with the donor partners.”
