Museveni, Kabaka, Besigye to receive award

President Yoweri Museveni, the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, and FDC president Dr. Kizza Besigye are among the Ugandans to be given awards.

President Yoweri Museveni, the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, and FDC president Dr. Kizza Besigye are among the Ugandans to be given awards Pearl of Africa Life time Achievements tomorrow (Friday) evening at Imperial Royale Hotel.

Some of the other prominent Ugandans to be honoured for their outstanding contribution include the Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi, former Vice President Prof. Gilbert Bukenya, former Prime Minister Prof. Apolo Nsibambi, Speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga, the First Lady Janet Museveni, the Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi, FDC presidential aspirant Gen. Mugisha Muntu, water minister Betty Bigombe, and the Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago.

The event, organized by Uganda Investment Authority and Public Opinions, is aimed at honouring Ugandans who have greatly contributed to Uganda's attainment of the United Nations Millennium Development goals.

According to Adam Buyinza, the chairman of Public Opinions, the National Planning Authority will be making a presentation on the final draft of Uganda's vision 2040 which contains measures through which Uganda will develop into the rank of first world countries.

The office of the Prime Minister will also make a presentation on Uganda's progress in attaining the millennium development goals.

Several investors in the private sector will be honoured and some of those in this category include James Mulwana, Gordon Wavamunno, Boney Katatumba, Nanji Mehta, Mayur Madhvan and many others. John Nagenda, musicians Bobi Wine and Jose Chameleon are among those recognized in the area of media and music.

At the occasion, the Uganda Who is Who book of Records containing outstanding personalities will be launched.

In the book, a copy of which The New Vision has seen, President Museveni will be honoured for building a sustainable private sector, and building a national and professional army while Dr. Kizza Besigye will be honoured for his relentless advocacy for the human rights and political rights of Ugandans.
