Two people and eight cows died when a speeding cattle truck lost control and overturned.
The accident occurred at Kakooge at Lwabenge swamp bordering Buganda and Buluuli in Nakasongola District on when the driver of a speeding Fuso truck carrying cattle tried to swerve and avowing hitting a donkey that was in the middle of the Luweero –Nakasongola highway but instead rolled the truck.
The deceased and some survivors who sustained serious injuries were rushed to hospital as residents took advantage and started slaughtering the dead animals.

Margret Komuhangi, Nakasongola Woman MP immediately rushed to the scene of accident and advised other survivors who had remained behind also to go for medical examination and treatment.
Samuel Kaboggoza, an eyewitnesses and a resident of Nakitoma in Nakasongola said the owner the donkey failed to control it yet the cattle truck was speeding.
He said it is a common practice for cattle truck drivers mainly on market days to over speed compromising road safety.
The truck that was involved in the accident was one of many from Kampala, Gulu and beyond that had just loaded cattle from Nakitoma cattle market in Nakasongola on Friday.
James Semyalo, Nakitoma sub county chairperson said transportation of cattle which is among the major sources of revenue for both the sub county and the district is still a challenge due to overloading and overspreading.
