King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV 17th coronation anniversary (Empango) that was scheduled for tomorrow Wednesday September 12 has been suspended due to financial constraints, kingdom officials have said.

“We have suspended the Empango ceremony because we are having the royal wedding this month.  Due to financial constraints, Empango will not be held. We cannot afford to have two functions at at the same time,” Charles Kamurasi the head of the Babito royal clan told the New Vision.

Kamurasi however said that King Oyo who is already in his Kingdom will Wednesday attend prayers at the St John’s Christian cathedral in Fort Portal at 10:00 AM.

He added that the King may in the near future choose when to hold his 17the coronation anniversary when the Kingdom is financially stable.

Francis Mugenyi the Principle private secretary to the King who confirmed the development said “the kingdom is looking forward to a bigger occasion in November.”

Efforts to get a comment from the Kingdom information minister and Prime Minister Fredrick Nyakabwa and Amos Mugisa respectively were futile as all their phones were off.
