A Sudanese who had been held on suspicion of Ebola at Entebbe Grade B hospital has tested negative for the virus.
The suspect was put under isolation on August 6, after he was found with sign of viral infections. He was presented with fever, headache, general body weakness and yellow eyes.
Director of health services, Dr Ruth Aceng in a press release said results from Uganda Virus Research Institute show that the suspect is free from the entire Eboba virus.
The suspect had come to Uganda to seek treatment for Hepatitis B infection which had been confirmed in Sudan.
Government has stepped up efforts to prevent the outbreak of Ebola in the country by setting up isolation centres at major entry points such as Entebbe International Airport and Buvuma Island on Lake Victoria among others.
Ebola was first detected in West Africa in July and has claimed almost 1000 lives.
According to health experts, the virus, which kills up to 90% of those infected, spreads through contact with an infected person's bodily fluids. It symptoms include: fever,vomiting,diarrhoea, abdominal pain, headache, measles-like rash, red eyes, and sometimes with bleeding from body openings.
