Preliminary works on Isimba Hydropower Dam project in Kayunga District are underway for the construction of yet another power station that will boost the country’s electricity power capacity.

The power station expected to be completed in about three years will produce 183 mega watts and will cost about 57 million dollars including a Government counterpart funding of 15 percent.

The Vice President Edward Kiwanuka yesterday inspected the ongoing works on site and commended the team on ground for the plans which he said if followed will enable the completion of the project on schedule.

Ssekandi urged the local people in the area where the Dam is being constructed to cooperate and support the team on ground to ensure a smooth run of activities on site and also called upon the local leaders of Kayunga and Kamuli to take interest in the progress.

He assured those affected by the works that Government will pay for the costed items saying that since some have already been compensated, those who have not been paid should be patient.
