The Uganda Commonwealth Games team is  back home after national duty in Glasgow, Scotland.

Team Ugandan comprising 100 athletes arrived at Entebbe International Airport at 1pm on an Emirates Airline flight.

Team Uganda finished in 18th position out of 35 teams on the medals table.

Uganda collected one gold and four bronze medals.

It was a remarkable performance over the years. Team Uganda got the medals in athletics and boxing.

Moses Kipsiro  retrained his 10000m title after winning gold in the closing stages of the competition while Abraham Kiplimo and Winnie Nanyondo (left, inset) earned bronze medals in the marathon and 800m races respectively.

Boxers — super heavyweight Mike Ssekabembe and light flyweight Juma Fazil Kaggwa announced Uganda Bombers’ return on the international stage after over six years by winning bronze medals.

After over a decade of under achievement, the Glasgow Games could be a sign of good things to come for Uganda on the international stage.

Such a remarkable achievement was last registered in the New Zealand Commonwealth Games in 1990.
