Nakulabye pork joints erased for road expansion

The famous Nakulabye pork joints are cleared to give way for expansion of the road in an operation by a KCCA enforcement team.

KAMPALA - The famous Nakulabye pork joints have been brought down to give way for expansion of the road in a Saturday morning operation carried out by a KCCA enforcement team backed by police.

The operation which started at Royal Miles known as Kabakanjagala road, was led by Superintendent Kituuma Rusoke, the head of security enforcement in KCCA.

The operation extended to Kabaka Njagala Road , Bakuli, Bukeesa, Makerere Hill Road and Kikoni.

According to Hajji Abu Bakari Mulimira, a landlord in Bakuli, they were given few days to remove their property.

Edirisa, a resident of Bukeesa, said that this system of KCCA demolishing all the makeshift eateries is good because it will improve on the standards in the city.

LC Chairman Bakuli Mulira Village Fred Kabugo added that ‘’Documents were given to every landlord individually therefore there was no excuse for temporary structures.

The assistant spokesperson KCCA, Robert Kalumba, said that residents were given two months' notice to quit the road reserve where they had set up illegal structures.

“We are going to expand the road from Nakulabye to Kasubi and we issued warnings to the people in this area two months ago, Kalumba told New Vision.
