All Africa Games 100m Gold champion Christine Akullo is still confident that she can make to the medal podium in the Paralympic Games, despite suffering from a fever last week.

She is expected on the track on Monday in the 400m final, before starting her campaign in the 100m on Wednesday with the first round action.

Akullo, who still looked weak, was nonetheless positive that she will have regained more energy to take on the world’s best come Tuesday.

She will be lined up against other athletes in the women’s 400m final Tuesday night in London.

“Okay, I believe I still need some energy but I will go on. They have advised me to change my diet,” said the Paralympian, explaining that she has to eat more carbohydrates.

“I have recovered and I can now challenge the best. My focus is to see to it that I run all the way ahead of them.”

She even had time off to plait her hair and also sign on the Olympic truce wall with Uganda’s other competitor David Emong.

Emong will compete in the first round of the men’s 1500m today (Saturday).

“It is going to be a challenging field I understand but there is no other option but to go in there and also challenge them and that I will do with all my heart,” said Akullo.
