The equipment worth over sh500m was donated by a South African company, Sirona Dental Systems, in partnership with the Pan Dental Academy.

The principal dental surgeon at the ministry of health, Dr. Juliet Nabbanja, says at the moment the dental school produces only 15 dentists per year.

She underlined that dental conditions are a big problem in the country, and are therefore rated third world in the out-patient department in hospitals.

Dr. Tom Mutyabule, the Chief Executive Officer of Pan Dental Academy said the equipment will help in reducing the problems of diagnosis.

According to him, the new machine works ten times faster than the old ones at the dental school. “The machine can diagnose more patients in one hour, compared to the old equipment."
