RUGBY - Easy Money Rhinos take on Sadolin Mongers on Saturday in a fixture that is expected to be a bruising one than the highly billed fixture of Pirates and Heathens in the quarterfinal of the Nile Special Uganda Cup.
Coach John Musoke is expected to line up a strong pack manned by Martial Tchumcam, James Ssenoga and coupled by his backs of James Musiitwa, and newly acquired kick James Makmot.
Pirates battles Heathens:
Pirates are well aware of Heathens superiority and that is exactly their motivation when they visit Heathens in the Nile Special Uganda Cup quarters at Kyadondo rugby Club.
Team captain Eric Butime told the New Vision that losing to Heathens for the past years is one reason they out for revenge.
“The past record is what makes this game unpredictable and we are approaching it well aware that it is knockout rugby and focused on nothing other than results,” Butime stated.
Butime added that they hope to make use of their pack that is always superior on the opponents before offloading the ball to the backs that gained exposure in the Machakos 7s early this year.
“We will keep the ball in our pack that is always dangerous before offloading it to our backs, who have gained confidence in Machakos 7s.
Joel Anguyo, Byron Kasozi, Ivan Magomu, Edmond Tumusiime and Jude Kiirya form Pirates backs.
However Heathens coach Brian Tabaruka is well aware of Pirates urge for victory and has cautioned his charges against complacency.
“They have improved a lot especially in their pack and we are not at all going too seat back and think of the past records,” Tabaruka also noted.
Heathens will do without their star players that include, fullback Philip Wokorach, Benon Kiiza, centre and Winger Michael Wokorach, fly Half Jasper Ochen that are with the national sevens team in the Commonwealth Games.
The Uganda Cup is sponsored by Nile Special and Rwenzori Water.
