Glasgow 2014: Kylie Minogue to perform at closing ceremony

Organisers of the Glasgow Games have promised to give the world a closing ceremony that it will live to remember.

David Zolkwer, head of ceremonies and artistic director on Friday urged the world to brace itself for something special on Sunday.

"It's been an absolutely amazing time but now we've reached the bitter-sweet moment when we brace ourselves for the inevitable goodbyes and the farewells.

"So, after an incredible feast of sport and culture we're delighted to invite everyone "back to ours" to party big time, and in Glasgow style."

A Ugandan contingent of over 100 sportsmen and administrators will be part of the 40,000 people expected at Scotland’s national stadium-Hampden Park.

The grand finale comes ten days after an equally impressive opening ceremony that was praised for its energy and humour.

The world that time held its breath as Scotland commanded the spotlight with tartan-clad performers, oversized Tunnock's tea cakes, a giant kilt and Scottie dogs.

A star studded cast of performers has been lined up. Organisers have confirmed that global superstar Minogue will headline the performance.

The closing ceremony will also serve as the official hand over to the Gold Coast, which will stage the 2018 Games. Jessica Mauboy is set to perform as part of the Gold Coast element of the ceremony at Hampden Park.

Among the Ugandans in the crowd will be Uganda’s Education and Sports State Minister Charles Bakkabulindi, who described Glasgow’s organization as amazing.

“These are very warm people who have put together one of the best events ever,” stated Bakkabulindi as he watched gymnastic finals at the Glasgow Hydro.

Uganda got off to a great start to the20th  games by winning a bronze in the men’s marathon. Uganda was also set to crown up its final competition day with even more medals.
