Judith Nabakooba has bounced back as the police spokesperson in wide sweeping changes in the police force announced effected Tuesday.

Nabakooba once held the office before serving under Assuman Mugenyi as a deputy police spokesperson prior to being made deputy political commissar, a post she held until Tuesday’s transfers. Mugenyi is still the police political commissar.

The transfers, which, were effected by the Deputy Inspector General of Police (D/IGP) Okoth Ochola also see Simon Kuteesa, who has been the spokesperson for a little over a month revert to his old office of media crime, replacing Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Fred Mirondo.

Mirondo moves to electoral and political department as acting Commissioner of Police (CP). “The transfers are made with immediate effect,” reads a message signed by Ochola.

The transfers also see SSP Allan Balaba move to the legal department at police headquarters from the criminal intelligence and investigations department (CIID) headquarters.

Former deputy police spokesperson SSP Emilian Kayima now moves to the land police protection unit as the political commissar and spokesperson.
