Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has confiscated 60 forged land titles from two individuals, who claimed to be employees of the ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development.

KCCA said Vincent Mutebi and John Paul Kigwe, who claimed to be data entry clerks, had been issuing forged land titles to mainly city tycoons.

The confiscation of the forged land titles followed Police's three- day search of private offices along Nkrumah and Nasser roads. The search, according to the source is part of on- going KCCA's crack down on land fraud transactions in the city.

Several people including two Architects were arrested. They told Police that they connived with some officials from the ministry of lands to issue forged land titles.

The officials also searched Mutebi's home at Gazaya, Wakiso district on Friday morning. They found 60 forged land titles and stamps. The suspects are still detained at Central Police Station (CPS) on charges of forgery.

"The two suspects have been also issuing out forged land search certificates. We shall produce them in court, after concluding our investigations," Jacob Lukambuzi, KCCA's head of monitoring and inspection Unit explained.

Lukambuzi added that Police was still interrogating several officials, who were allegedly reported to have been involved in this scam business.
