Police probe fuel fraud in premier's office

Detectives yesterday quizzed the station manager of a fuel filling station in Ntinda, a city suburb, in connection with over sh3.5b that was deposited in its account for allegedly supplying air.

Detectives yesterday quizzed the station manager of a fuel filling station in Ntinda, a city suburb, in connection with over sh3.5b that was deposited in its account for allegedly supplying air.
 
The interrogation was part of an ongoing purge on fraud in the Office of the Prime Minister.
Shamim Masembe, the station manager of the then Caltex filling station turned Total Ntinda filling station and a co-accused of interdicted principal accountant Geoffrey Kazinda was interrogated by detectives at the cID headquarters in Kibuli.
 
She emerged from the interrogating room shortly before lunchtime. After recording a statement, the Police said: “We are going to release her on bond as investigations continue.” 
 
Sources said the money was deposited on the account between 2010 and February 2011 for no services rendered. 
It is alleged that the money was deposited by Kazinda in various installments.
