St. mary’s Kitende took the lion’s share of almost all science courses at Makerere University on private and Government admissions this year.

A study of the list of admissions to Makerere University shows the school leading in admissions to medicine and surgery, information technology, statistics, telecommunication engineering, environmental science, fi sheries and aquaculture, and business administration courses.

But competing favourably are historical academic giants like King’s College Budo, Gayaza High School, Nabisunsa Girl’s School, Ntare School, St. Mary’s College Kisubi and Mt. St. Mary’s Namagunga as well as Uganda Martyrs S. S Namugongo.

 

Makerere is the leading university in the country and the only public one which has so far released all its admission lists, which were used in this analysis.

The analysis covered a few of the most competitive courses at Makerere University.

Gayaza and Budo have the highest admission to human nutrition, Namagunga and Nabisunsa to nursing, Mengo Secondary School and Kitende to law, Namilyango College and Mengo to surveying, and Seeta High School and Mengo to mining.

Mbarara High School and Namagunga still have the highest admissions to mechanical engineering, while Lubiri Secondary School and Hilton High School take finance, and Bp. Cipiriano Kihangire SS and Namirembe Hillside SS take journalism and communication.

 

In travel and tourism, Lubiri SS and Buloba High School lead the admissions while Bp. Kihangire and Lubiri are still leading in accounting. Lubiri and Hilton High School are your best schools for agricultural courses, whereas Mengo and Makerere College School take Architecture.

Mbarara High and Valley College Bushenyi had the most admissions to Industrial Chemistry while Seeta and East High School took meteorology.

A number of these schools also had the highest number of their candidates admitted on Government and private sponsorship this year in Makerere. Namugongo, Kitende and Gombe had the highest number of candidates admitted to Makerere.

Others are Buddo SS, Kisubi, Seeta High (Main), King’s College Budo, St. Augustine, Nsambya Hillside, Naalya SS, Namagunga, Gayaza, and Trinity College Nabbingo.

A number of schools have also maintained their good performance, among the top 100 schools in the country, and are still the best in almost all the selected courses.

The semester opens on August 11, this year for all undergraduates at Makerere University.
