Visiting the sick is a sign of mercy in Islam according to Prophet Muhammad’s Hadith (teachings). In accordance with the prophet’s teachings, over 60 Muslims from corporate companies last Saturday visited patients at Mulago Hospital. They fall under their umbrella organization, The Muslim Corporate League.

The team visited wards 1A and 3A and recited duwahs in addition to giving the patients sugar and soap. “It is Sunnah for Muslims to visit the sick, needy and prisoners. We do this because the same help can be rendered to us when we face challenges,” Muslim Kiwanuka, the chairperson of the group, said.

He said this was the second time the team was visiting the patients in two months. Kiwanuka urged other Muslims to help the needy and the sick as one way of securing a place in Jaanah (Heaven).

Yahaya Katumba, a caretaker at the Mulago Hospital Mosque, expressed concern about the high number of patients who get stranded at the mosque.
