How formal education eroded invaluable traditional teaching

Last week, we saw the introduction of western, read formal education in Uganda. However, its worth noting that even before the coming of Christian missionaries, there were well-rooted traditional systems of education in Uganda although there were no defined schools, teachers or textbooks.

The traditional system emphasised discipline, respect for societal values and aquisiton of practical skills for survival and sustainability of societies in their unique settings. Click here to read more...
