Partners for Children Worldwide with support from Child Fund have partnered with Etop newspaper to improve education standards in Teso sub-region

Partners for Children Worldwide with support from Child Fund have partnered with Etop newspaper to improve education standards in Teso sub-region.

They have come on board to support the Pass PLE project published in Etop newspaper by sponsoring more copies to eighteen primary schools in five districts in Teso.

The five districts include Soroti, Serere, Amuria, Katakwi and Kaberamido where the project shall be operational for one year beginning at the end of this month (July).

“We come to partner with Etop newspaper with an objective of improving education standards in Teso sub-region. We believe that supplying copies of Etop pass PLE to schools will help improve pupils performance,” George Olupot, the Executive Chairman PfCW said after singing the partnership agreement with Etop management on Tuesday.

The project is worth over sh8m for the supply of 10.800 copies of Etop newspaper pass PLE pullout for a period of one year.

The organization's objectives are to improve access to quality education, empower families to provide food security for themselves and empower households economically in Teso sub-region.

Both parties are interested in supporting schools to improve achievement in academic performance, literacy and numeracy levels.

“This is the beginning but should the project yield good results, we may expand it beyond 18 schools but for now we shall supervise those closely,” Olupot explained.

George Masuba, the manager Partners for Children Worldwide hailed Vision Group for going beyond informing people and entertaining to educating masses.

James Ekweu, the editor Etop newspaper welcomed the partnership for supporting the efforts of the paper in improving education levels in the region.

“Pupils who have done well in the Primary Leaving Examinations in Teso have attributed it to Pass PLE examination pullout. So you are in the right track and we call upon other organizations to emulate you,” Ekweu said
