Gov't to recognize top 50 Ugandan brands

The Government of Uganda together with Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) will recognize the top 50 brands that have served Ugandans for the last 10 years as Uganda celebrates its Golden Jubilee in October 2012.

The Government of Uganda together with Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) will recognize the top 50 brands that have served Ugandans for the last 10 years as Uganda celebrates its Golden Jubilee in October 2012.

“As we climax towards the cerebrations of our golden Jubilee in October 2012 the government gave us the chance to stock, take private sector company’s brands that have been in existence for more than 10 years by way of recognition”, said the Executive Director Private Sector Foundation Uganda  Gideon Badagawa.

Badagawa who was on Monday addressing a press conference at Uganda Media Center in Kampala said their main objective of recognizing the top 50 companies or brands was a way of  transforming the country from a peasant society to a modern and prosperous country by 2030.

He explained that both Government and the private Sectors will recognize the nominated companies or brands as one of the top 50 brands in Uganda which will be published in the Uganda at 50 Brand catalogue and will be distributed at the event and at the national celebration on the 9th of October

“We will be recognizing the top 50 companies or brands for their services to Ugandans over the period at the Award ceremony that will take place on the 10th of August 2012 before the Jubilee celebrations”, Gideon Badagawa said.

He said that PSFU being the apex body of the private sector in Uganda was designed by the Government of Uganda to lead and involve the business community in the celebrations.


He added that it’s against this background that PSFU is involved in the celebrations and will be recognizing Uganda’s top 50 brands over the Jubilee.

Badagawa noted that the selection of the top 50 brands will be made by the public through an SMS vote and “PSFU is therefore calling for nomination for various companies, organizations, institutions to nominate their brands.

He said that all those companies that fallow under Agriculture, Engineering, Energy & ICT, Banking, Insurance and Finance, Manufacturing, Extractive Industries/Mining, Oil and Gas Skills, Health, Education and Professional Organizations, Tourism, Transport Haulage trade and Commerce are eligible.

He said that the nomination form is available on the PSFU website and the Public is allowed to enter only one Brand and each extra brand will be charged sh1M.
 
Badagawa called upon all those Company/Brand/Product that have been in existence for the last 10 years to participate in the process by nominating their brand starting today by downloading their nomination Form from www.psfuganda.org.ug.  
The deadline for submission of the nomination forms is 18th July 2012.
