Two women have been sentenced to six-month imprisonment for hurling obscene words at another woman.

Jennifer Nansiko, a wife to the mayor of Bugiri and Nansabu Butotoba are both residents of Nkusi cell in Bugiri town.

They insulted Sofia Mutesi on August 17, 2011 at Kyimombasa cell. Mutesi’s children witnessed the incident and the court described the act as embarrassing.

The motive of the insults was not known, but sources say the offenders and their victim belong to rival political camps.

Bugiri Grade One Magistrate Catherine Agwello said the six-month jail sentence would be a deterrent to others.
