President Yoweri Museveni has announced a more aggressive emphasis on investing in infrastructure development and support to industry in order to transform the country.

His remarks were carried in the just read State of the Nation address to parliament.

Museveni said agitation for salary increase by public servants and political leaders should stop and instead the country should focus on the construction of roads and electricity. While outlining a new strategy to take the country forward, the President said the country must invest now to guarantee the future.

He, however, said the payrise to teachers and public servants will be effected in the next financial year. In addition, he said sh20b had been provided for sub-county councillors and LC1 chairpersons.
