URA not only strode closer to a fifth Bell Uganda Super League title on Monday, but also got a big psychological boost ahead of their Bell Uganda Cup final this weekend.

The tax men, who face Bunamwaya on Saturday, beat Hoima-Busia 2-1 to take a three point lead in a match that will best be remembered for three perfectly taken set pieces.

Veteran defender Simeon Masaba (right) twice showed why he is one of the longest serving Ugandan players by neatly powering the free-kicks that were nodded in by Feni Ali and Hamis Kitagenda.

The two hitmen struck in the 23 and 33 minutes before Yasin Isabirye pulled one back for the hosts with a penalty into the far corner of the net in the final minute.

“There couldn’t have been a better morale booster ahead of the final,” said coach Alex Isabirye (inset top), who nevertheless added that he is still having sleepless nights because of the many injuries in the team.

The injury list includes captain Manko Kaweesa, Vincent Kayizzi, Oscar Agaba and Sam Mubiru. Isabirye was forced to have goalkeeper Brian Bwete dressed as an up field player. Matters were not helped with the match ending with Masaba and Benson Ociti limping.

Meanwhile, the focus today will be on the Bunamwaya versus Simba match at Buikwe.
