Catholic Church hosts dinner for Namugongo Kyoto

The Catholic Church is to host 350 guests today (Thursday) for a Fundraising dinner at Protea Hotel, as part of the activities to raise $(sh2.5b) for the construction of Namugongo Kyoto Spiritual Resort.

The Catholic Church is to host 350 guests today (Thursday) for a Fundraising dinner at Protea Hotel, as part of the activities to raise $(sh2.5b) for the construction of Namugongo Kyoto Spiritual Resort.

The Arch Bishop of Kampala Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga is expected to be the Chief host and Bank of Uganda Deputy Governor Dr. Louis Kasekende will be Chief Guest.

The sh2.5bn will be used to construct 75 self-contained rooms, modern library, conference hall and upgrading the existing 25 rooms to self- contained standards.

“Kampala city elites are in the habit of wining, dining and dancing just to feel good and show off. I request that you attend this VIP dinner for very a noble and spiritual cause will,” Msgr John Wynand Katende said.

Katende asks them to spare a shilling for a spiritual cause. He also says the Kyoto Spiritual Resort will help God-fearing people to experience a spiritual journey in a peaceful environment with in the vicinity of the historic Namugongo Martyrs shrines.

Prominent Catholics like Emmanuel Katongole of Quality Chemicals, Centenary Bank’s Simon Kagugube, Joseph Yiga (JOMAYI), Patrick Bitature, Charles Mbiire and Francis Migadde among others have already offered great support to Fundraising Committee.

Corporate tables are also on sale at Sh3, 000,000 (Gold), sh2, 000,000 (Silver) and sh1, 000,000 (Bronze) while individual cards go for Sh100, 000 (Silver) and Sh300, 000 (Gold).

Foyer De Charite, French international organization has already contributed about sh240m ($100,000) towards the construction of the project.

Katende explains that the increasing population with in the Catholic community has led to high demand for such facilities.

“Kyoto will be a tourism asset for catholic church. After 45 years, we realised that the 25 existing rooms could not accommodate the high growing population,”he stated.

Katende said the church was targeting three million Ugandans to participate in this three-month fundraising project.
