Evergreen handballers win as Mulago Deaf triumph in rugby

Newcomers Evergreen got their second win in the national handball league as Mulago School of the Deaf become the inaugural winners of the 2012 Sheraton-Nakasero Tag Rugby Festival.

Ephraim Bukenya, John Oloya and Patrick Semuwemba combined to hand newcomers Evergreen their second victory in the national handball league at the Makerere University ground over the weekend.

The three players were on top of their game throughout the 60 minutes with Bukenya scoring eight goals as Semuwemba and Oloya added five and seven respectively in their side’s 35-20 victory against home side MUK Bull.

Evergreen who have shown a stern quest for the title in their maiden appearance in the league, had beaten Nkumba 37-19 the previous weekend.

Mulago School for the Deaf are the inaugural winners of the 2012 Sheraton-Nakasero Tag Rugby festival, Michael Nsubuga writes.

The Mulago side did not lose a game enroute to the final where they were 7-6 winners over Bweyogerere School for the Deaf in sudden death on Friday. Normal time had ended 6-6 at the Sheraton Hotel gardens.

The victors beat Faith and Hope in the semifinals while Bweyogerere saw off Ntinda 5-4. Bright Future Orphanage edged Nakasero’s Eland 4-3 in the plate final while Natete Moslem overcame Nakasero Roans 5-3.
