SC Villa has scoffed at FUFA’s decision to kick them out of the Bell Uganda Cup and further mocked the federation offering to double the fine they are supposed to pay.

“We know FUFA need money. We shall get sh10m and give it to them to cater for any more charges they might come up with against us,” explained Villa director of football strategy Joseph Kanaaba.

FUFA’s competition committee yesterday slapped the Jogoos with a sh5m fine besides expulsion from domestic football’s oldest cup competition. “We are not shocked by the decision. But we shall not contest it because we have no faith in both the competition and appeals committees.”

FUFA has cracked the whip on Villa with multiple fines and a directive that the Jogoos produce ring leaders of the crowd violence that caused the abandonment of Tuesday’s Bell Uganda Cup semi-final in Lugazi.

The federation’s competitions committee ruled that URA, who were leading 3-1 when the match was disrupted by rowdy Villa fans in the 71 minute, proceed to the semi-finals and play Masaka in the semi-finals.

But Kanaaba said FUFA was being too high handed. “If they have kicked us out, why also fine us?”

In a three page verdict delivered to the press by committee secretary Decolas Kiiza yesterday, Villa were fined sh2m for causing abandonment of the match. They will also forfeit their sh68,000 share from the gate collections.

Other penalties include a sh300,000 fine for refusing to continue play as directed by the referee besides forfeiting already ‘earned’ sh1.05m prize money for reaching the quarter-final stage. They will also be made to pay sh1m if they fail to produce the ring leaders of the chaos.

Whether Villa have recovered from the teargas and the fines will be known today when they face Police in one of several games.
