Moses Golola v Zsamboki

MOSES Golola has unveiled the man he hopes will improve his kickboxing technique, as the fighter continues to repair his career.

Tanzanian Abdul Karim is the trainer who has been handed the task of elevating Golola’s fighting skills, an aspect in need of urgent fixing.

Golola’s deficiencies were painfully exposed during his fight with Hungarian Andras Nagy last December and his popularity suffered radically as a result of the chaos that followed the end of the match.

Golola, fresh from a two-week training camp in Tanzania, is looking ahead to April 27 when he will take on another Hungarian, Mate Zsamboki, at Lugogo in a World title fight.

Golola was slated to fight Nagy in a re-match but the Hungarian withdrew due to a six-month injury lay-off.

Karim says the Ugandan is in good condition but needs to sharpen a few rough edges.

“He is physically fit, an issue that will make it easy for me to take him through the remaining bit like conditioning, telegraphic and tense techniques that he is now lacking,” said Karim, who was presented at a press briefing at Miracle Centre in Rubaga yesterday.

Karim explained that Golola had to beef up his thigh muscles to absorb hits better and the trainer added that the African champion needs to master the art of disguising his punches.

Golola, who heads to Bombo today to commence the second and final phase of his preparations for next month’s fight, expressed delight with Karim’s arrival and promised victory in the next outing, in the manner that only he can.
